Archetypes make a debut with tennis legend Serena Williams as the first guest. The event is a podcast series hosted by Meghan Markle and on Spotify. The Duchess of Sussex Meghan’s pet project strives to give women a voice.
Archetypes is produced by Archewell Audio, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex podcast studio. The Hollywood Reporter says Spotify enjoys an exclusive deal to run the podcast series. It promotes women and deals with myths and tropes that tend to bring women down. Archetypes lend a voice to women. It fights those things that make us “unable to be our authentic selves,” says Meghan.
Meghan features her best pal, Serena Williams, as they talk about women’s struggles to stay afloat. They both agreed that it’d been a fight for survival. It’s a fight against a system that labels a woman and uses her ambitions against her.
The first episode, titled “The Misconception of Ambition with Serena Williams,” premiered on August 23rd.
Experts featured in the podcast include a gender in the workplace expert Dr. Laura Kray. Also, Meghan says, Archetypes is a “podcast where we investigate, dissect, and subvert the labels that try to hold women back.”
It’s been two years since the planned launch of Archetypes by Archwell Audio. The couple released a Holiday Special edition with guests like James Corden and Elton John.
Earlier this year, Archewell Audio and Spotify announced the kickoff of Archetypes this summer. Finally, Archetypes have become a reality with Serena Williams as the first guest.
Archetypes has already topped the international chart on Spotify. It takes the number one spot in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
The next episode of Archetype features pop icon Mariah Carey.
