Famous Black Men with Dreads We Love!

Wiz Khalifa with Dreads and a cut off shirt, Performing on stage

It’s simple. We absolutely love black men with dreads.

However, the hairstyle remains a controversial one. The stereotype that people who wear dreads are weed smoking hippies is one that still lingers. Those who rock dreads are at times looked at with suspicion and even refused jobs.

Recently, a U.S. Circuit Court ruled that it is legal to refuse jobs to people with dreadlocks.

Although this is a matter that affects both men and women, the heavier burden still lies on black men as more men tend to wear dreads. For that reason, we wanted to cheer and celebrate some famous black men who wear dreads with pride.

Chief Keef

The Chicago based rapper has been rocking dreads since he came on to the scene back in 2011. Guess dreadlocks is one of the (few) things he likes.

Fetty Wap

Fetty didn’t have dread when he blew up in 2014. Now, his dreads shoulder length and beautiful.

Stevie Wonder

The musical genius has been wearing dreads longer than some of the other men on this list have been alive.

2 Chainz

2 Chainz’s locks have matured over the years to the point of being a magnificent symbol of the rapper.

Wale arguable has the most stylish dreads ever! So neat and so fresh, all the time.

J. Cole

Is J Cole starting to look like Bob Marley? Is that where his vibe is going? Not sure, but we love it either way. This incredible rapper is always delivering powerful lines and visuals.

Lenny Kravitz

Hip hop doesn’t have a monopoly on dreadlocks. This rock star has been on dreads for a while now.

Damian Marley

You can’t talk about dreadlocks without brining up the Marleys. Damian’s is almost hitting the ground.

Wiz Khalifa

Wiz keeps his dreads short and sweet. Look at that #blackboyjoy

Jermaine Jones

The soccer star always has one of the best hairstyles on any field he plays at.

From funky hair-dos to the OG of dreads, Snoop’s style has evolved the same way his career has evolved: beautifully! Call him Snoop Dogg or Snoop Lion, he comes through with the bomb dreads.

Nile rodgers

This songwriter, producer, and musician’s dreads are grown and sexy.

Chris Johnson

Another NFLer with gorgeous dreads. Who said you can’t dress up with dreads??

Lil Wayne

Was Lil Wayne the first one to make dreads super popular among rappers? That’s up for debate. What’s not up for debate is that dreads are part of Lil Wayne’s identity.

This Sacramento grown rapper’s dreads are so thick and raw. Something like his music.

All 3 members of the Migos area dreaded. Are dreads part of Southern swag (A-Town!)?

Denzel Curry

This rapper started working on his craft when he was only in the 6th grade. We wonder when he started working on his dreads.
