Talking about Marquise Jackson and estranged dad, 50 Cent, it’s been one long history of an unending feud. And if you hoped it would end soon, well, there are no signs to that effect. Why? Famous rapper and father, 50 Cent says he used to love his son. From all indication, both parties are not ready to sheath their swords yet.
Misunderstanding and intermittent quarrels do occur amongst family members. But when it assumes the proportion and length of time it has taken between Marquise and dad 50 Cent, it should call for concern. More so, 50 Cent already gave a hint that the chance of a reconciliation with his so is pretty slim.
Marquise Jackson’s Current Relationship with 50 Cent
When asked about his soiled relationship with his son during an Instagram interview with Van Lathan, Curtis Jackson (50 Cent) responded, “It’s a sad situation.” Filled with regrets, 50 Cent admitted he never expected the price for fame and success would include a strained relationship with his firstborn son, Marquise.
He reiterated that while praying for success, no one prays or asked for some of the issues that come with it.
Over the years, it’s been one verbal warfare or the other between father and son via social media. In 2018, 50 Cent took outrage from the public when he posted a comment saying he wouldn’t flinch a second if Marquise alongside his sworn enemy got hit by a bus.
Again, barely a month ago, 50 Cent said he did go for Brooklyn rapper Tekashi 6ix9nine instead of Marquise. “He better than Marquise, though. I’ll take him before I take my actual biological son,” commented 50 Cent. Well, Marquise made a jest of his dad and retorted, “claiming a rat.”
Marquise Jackson and Dad Before Things Went Sour
To say a relationship goes bad overnight might be far from the truth. But there was a time son and dad shared an enviable relationship. Yes, you heard me right; son, Marquise, and dad, Curtis Jackson, had a splendid relationship one time.
The duo was so close to the point 50 Cent tattooed Marquise name on his right bicep during his birthday on October 17th, 1997. Curtis got excited as fatherhood served as a renewed source of motivation. “When my son came into my life, my priorities changed, because I wanted to have the relationship with him that I didn’t have with my father,” says Fiddy. So, what went wrong?
What Pitched Marquise Jackson Against Curtis Jackson?
It’s heartbreaking to see parents quarrel amongst themselves or with their kids, let alone have such open confrontation. But what went wrong between son, Marquise, and dad, Curtis Jackson?
The relationship started going sour far back in 2008 when Marquise’s dad broke up with his mother, Shaniqua Tompkins. Marquis was barely ten years old when the separation took place.
Part of the imbroglio had to do with Fiddy’s promise of the $4 million Long Island mansion for Shaniqua. Well, the duo ended in court over the issues – daggers drawn and love lost.
Next, on May 30th, 2008, suddenly, the house under dispute was gutted by fire, burnt to the ground. It led to further running battles between the duos.
50 Cent had gone to a filming location in Arizona when the fire incidence occurred. But Shaniqua claimed she heard someone sneak into the home at about 4 a.m before the fire broke out. Therefore, she believes Fiddy was out to murder her. “He said that he was going to have someone come to kill me, and see what he does? This is what he did,” reported Shaniqua while talking to the press at TMZ.
Well, with time, things got worse between son, Marquise, and dad over the running battles. Fiddy admits during an MTV talk that things are beginning to go frosty between him and his son over the issues at home.
Evidently, things went from bad to worse on November 18th, 2012 when 50 Cent sent a message to his 16-year old son threatening to remove his name from his Will. He said, “If I died today, would it matter to you? I’m changing my will. It’s a simple question.”
However, 50 Cent puts part of the blame of the frosty relationship between him and his son on his ex. He says, “There’s no such thing as success without jealousy, without envy or entitlement.”
Fiddy says his son has an entitlement mentality with access to everything he wants and more. “He had everything I didn’t have,” and his mom “developed an entitlement mentality that no one can meet, filtering that energy through his actual personal interests.”
50 Cent says Shaniqua lets their son have what he wants and makes Marquise believe he deserves more than that. Meanwhile, he pays child support of no less than $1.36 million for Marquise Jackson.
Fiddy now believes the real problem is with his son and not the mother. Marquise usually walks out of a location if he spots his dad entering the environment, says Curtis. “So while being a privileged child, he feels deprived,” explained 50 Cent.
What’s next for Marquise and Curtis Jackson?
Between Marquise and Curtis Jackson, one thing is evident, and that is the fact that the same blood flows in them. They even look so much alike that it appears 50 is fighting a younger version of himself.
Fiddy has had decades of unending broil with a lot of notable players in the entertainment industry. His broils include the likes of The Game, Diddy, Rick Ross, Floyd Mayweather, Nas, and the most famous of them all, with Ja Rule,
However, his prolonged feud with his son leaves much to be desired. We hope for love to prevail over bitterness between father and son. We hope 50 puts his most personal battle to rest, the one with his son.
