Have you ever felt as if you’ve lost the girl inside of you because life happened and you need to get her back? Then She’s Still There: Rescuing the Girl in You by Chrystal Evans Hurst is the book for you.  I rarely find a book that is right on target with what I am experiencing in my life, a book that makes me feel as if the author knows exactly what I am going through.  This is what happened when I read She’s Still There.

Approaching a milestone birthday, I felt lost, confused and uncertain about who I really was and who I was supposed to be.  She’s Still There gave me a blue print of how to change that.  Until this book, I never really took time to reflect or give myself permission to seek the girl inside of me.  The girl who had dreams, goals and aspirations that just seemed to disappear as I grew older.  I wondered what happened to me, often questioning where did the real me go?

I knew what I wanted my life to look like, but it seemed as if doubt and fear made that vision dark and unclear to the point where I was living my life on auto pilot.  I felt it was too late.  She’s Still There gave me hope.  Hope that no matter what stage in life, that girl is still there.

This is not an ordinary self-help book.  Chrystal Evans Hurst does a great job of relating to the reader by candidly sharing her personal stories, letting the reader know that they aren’t alone.    This is an easy book to read, with thought provoking chapters that meets you right where you are.  At the end of each chapter you have an opportunity to reflect on what you’ve read and how to apply it to your own life.

The book encourages you to do the work needed to find that girl inside of you and to be that girl you once thought you would become.  The book is written in such a way that makes you feel as if you are getting much needed advice from a good friend or a close relative.  She’s Still There inspired me to move, to do, to live and to be the woman that God created me to be.  I highly recommend She’s Still There because the girl in all of us deserves it.
