The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards was a somber one.

Just hours before the start of the award, the world lost basketball legend Kobe Bryant in a horrific helicopter crash that killed 9, including Kobe’s 13-year-old daughter Gianna Bryant.

Lizzo opened the night by dedicating her performance to Kobe. A bit later, host Alicia Keys paid honors through a musical tribute to the star with the help of Boyz II Men. They sang “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday.”

The other star that was honored at the 2020 Grammy’s was Nipsey Hussle, who won his first Grammy’s posthumously.

John Legend, YG, Meek Mill, Roddy Ricch, Kirk Franklin and DJ Khaled took the stage to sing a medley of the late rapper’s songs to honor his life and career. The performance included backgrounds dressed in traditional Eritrean clothing to honor Nipsey’s heritage.

We lost Nipsey Hussle last year at the age of 33 to a shooting outside his clothing store in Los Angeles.
