Barry Jenkins is back with a bang!

The Oscar winning director of Moonlight premiered his latest flick, If Beale Street Could Talk, at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 9th and the official trailer has just been released!

The romantic drama is based on James Baldwin’s novel of the same name from 1974. It tells the tale of a young black woman who sets out to clear the name of her wrongly-convicted husband and get him released from prison before the birth of their child. It stars KiKi Layne, Stephan James, and Regina King.

Jenkins released a scene from the film back in August to coincide with what would have been Baldwin’s 94th birthday. The writer-director wrote the script for this film in 2013, right along with the scrip for Moonlight. Moonlight memorably won Best Picture in 2017.

If Beale Street Could Talk is scheduled to be released in the United States on November 30, 2018.
