Two Black women smelling the roses with natural hair

Here at Black Excellence, we have made no secret of our love for natural hair. Curly, puffy, freezy, afro, braids, everything! We love it when a black woman shows off her crown in a state that feels more natural to her. If you’ve been chemically treating your hair and want to make the transition to natural hair, there are a lot of resources available, from blogs to videos.

A recent article on Huffington Post, written by a woman who went through the transition herself, lists some of the natural hair influencers on Instagram about their transitioning journey. These influencers and natural hair experts include a mother daughter duo Taylor Anne and Lorianne,  a curl coach and expert Felicia of hif3licia, a curly hair blogger StyleFeen, and a TV host Danni Washington.

Although all these women have luscious and enviable curls now, they talk about their struggles with going natural and what products they swear by to maintain healthy and beautiful natural hair. One thing that is repeatedly mentioned in the article is the dreaded big chop. Most black women hold on to damaged hair just for the sake of length. Let the length go! What’s in, and what should forever be in, is healthy hair first.

Like the writer of the article stated, the natural hair community is so very supportive and helpful. Learn from the community and share your journey with those that are going through the same thing.
