Spike Lee’s new joint, “BlacKkKlansman” received a 10-minute ovation at the Cannes Film Festival, where the film premiered. It is also reported that the audience broke out in applause a half-dozen times during the screening. Well, that’s quiet a debut.

The movie is based on the book Black Klansman by Ron Stallworth, which tells the true story of a black detective in Colorado Springs that infiltrated the local chapter of the Ku Klux Klan and eventually becomes the head of the chapter. Lee teamed up with Jordan Peele to produce the film. It will be released on August 10, 2018.

Here is an extended trailer that has just been released.
